So to the floor. I've chosen to use self levelling concrete followed by two coats of epoxy paint. The self levelling will help with dragging engines etc across the floor. I've chosen Cempolay Ultra - non latex appropriate for domestic garage use. Made by bostik.
First the floor has to be clean, free of dust and grease. Then it's recommended to do a pva 'bonding layer' (1:4 water) to help lock in the concrete dust and provide a consistent key for the Cempolay to bond to.
Am doing this in two stages as I can't completely empty garage and do in one go.
Once the PVA is dry - 24hours or so, then it's time to self level.
Mix up as per instructions. Pour on and spread with a steel plaster float to desired thickness obeying all information about timings. This stuff starts setting in 20 minutes so you can't hang about.
This is it laid after 30 minutes.
And then below is the next day.
